I played around with connecting again but the enter key would not highlight until I typed eight zeros instead of four. So, after being unable to type anything but 0 and enter and watching the connection attempt fail, I clicked a button on the failure screen that allowed me to then choose an alternate passkey. For posterity, some troubleshooting on this exact same problem.Īfter reading the question and answer here I was ready to throw the keyboard in the trash, but then thought that if two people have such an odd failure maybe its just a bug that one can work around. If I swap the batteries over and put the non-suspect ones in the MT bluetooth sleep/wake works perfectly and MT functions perfectly too, as does the Keyboard! An anomaly. I have to turn the iMac on by pressing the button on the back of it, and then the keyboard is fully functional immediately whilst the MT has a delay of a couple of minutes before it becomes functional. At the moment I have these (possibly defective) batteries in the MT and the scenario is that bluetooth wake is not working at all, either for the MT or the keyboard. After some time it may connect, and Mac OS responds by saying MT was found and connected but even so, movement on the MT surface does not make the on-screen cursor move! This is more of a rare occurrence, the usual is that it takes a long time to connect and then works properly.
What happens is this: The iMac fails to connect to the MT, even when the side button is pressed to put the equipment in connection mode with the green light flashing. One pair though gives intermittent problems when installed in the Magic Trackpad (MT), even when fully charged. Obviously, I use them in pairs both pairs work in the keyboard no problem. It seems that one or two of these batteries has a defect. I use Duracell rechargeable 2450mAh batteries in both items, that came in a blister pack of 4 batteries.
